Purchasing

With school districts struggling to do more with less, it’s essential to receive maximum value for every dollar spent.  The MEC assists by providing a mechanism for schools to pool their collective purchasing power -- saving money and improving efficiency.

The MEC Purchasing Cooperative analyzes costs, negotiates with vendors, and makes recommendations for products and services that have been submitted for competitive bidding.  By effectively using up-to-date technology and achieving economies of scale, we provide an online marketplace of quality goods and services for schools at substantially lower prices.

With the participation of more than 180 districts and related organizations across Ohio, the MEC Purchasing Cooperative is able to leverage collective buying power in 39 different commodity areas, and the number continues to grow!

In addition, the MEC’s partnership with the Ohio Council of Educational Purchasing Consortia (OCEPC) and the Association of Educational Purchasing Agencies (AEPA) helps bring national purchasing power to MEC members, allowing them to take advantage of deep discounts offered these affiliated organizations.
